SD113A Educational Foundation Puts on the Ritz to Raise Funds for Students
Save the date for March 7!

The School District 113A Educational Foundation invites the community to the Bootleg Bash, a benefit for district students. The party begins at 7 p.m. on March 7, at Ruffled Feathers Golf Club, which will be transformed to a 1920s speakeasy for the evening.
The Paul Windsor Orchestra, a 10-piece band covering all the old standards and contemporary favorites, will keep the dance floor crowded. Dinner will be served and the bar will be open—at least as long as the joint doesn’t get raided!
“The Bootleg Bash is a great opportunity to escape the winter doldrums and enjoy an evening out with your friends and neighbors,” said event organizer and Foundation Trustee Michele Metzler. “The event brings our community together in support of a great cause—developing our future leaders.”

Guests are encouraged to dress up in their best cocktail attire—modern or Gatsby- inspired. Highlights of the silent auction and raffle prizes include Disney Park Hopper passes, Blackhawk tickets, and multiple downtown getaway packages.
Tickets are on sale at school offices (Oakwood, River Valley and Old Quarry), through board and event committee members, or online at www.SD113AFoundation.org. Each $75 ticket includes dinner and drinks throughout the evening.

Profits for the event will fund grants to be awarded to faculty this spring. Past grants have funded technology including Mimio Teach Systems, iPads and document cameras; as well as math games, art materials and innovative science programs. The Foundation also relies on donations from the community and local businesses to support its efforts, and sponsorship opportunities are available.
“The funds raised by the Foundation allow us to reward innovation and creative teaching methods. Through our grants, one teacher with a great idea can put her plan into action,” explained Foundation President Shelley Taylor. “That results in more engaged students and improved learning.”
Other funding for the Foundation is provided by local businesses, including a Platinum Grant Underwriter sponsorship from Citgo. Many local families support the Foundation through the Friends of 113A program. Those who cannot attend the event can support the Foundation through donated raffle or auction items, or by making a monetary gift.
All event proceeds will benefit the School District 113A Educational Foundation , which provides financial resources to support education, innovation and enrichment in pursuit of academic excellence for the SD 113A community. The Foundation provides funds beyond the normal operating budget of the school district for specific educational programs and activities for students and staff. Since 2010 the Foundation has provided more than $120,000 in grants.
The Foundation is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Gifts to the Foundation are tax deductible as allowed by law. For more information about the SD 113A Educational Foundation, visit www.SD113AFoundation.org.
