Senior Health Fair Hosted In Lemont

LEMONT, IL — State Sen. John Curran and Rep. Jim Durkin will partner to host a free Senior Health fair in Lemont. The fair, which will have over 60 vendors, will provide screenings and helpful information for area seniors, according to a release.
The Senior Health Fair will take place on Aug. 29 at the CORE Fitness Center located in Lemont at 16050 W. 127th St., from 9 a.m. to noon. Free screenings will be available for attendees, including blood pressure, blood sugar, hearing, pneumonia and stress screenings. Flu shots will be free to those with Medicare B, and there will be a medication disposal box on-site to collect unused and outdated prescription drugs from 9 to 11 a.m.
"Being able to provide this service is just a small way we can empower, inform and care for our senior citizen community," Curran said in a release. "I'm looking forward to partnering with Leader Durkin to bring together a number of service providers, resources and screenings into one place for senior citizens to utilize, explore and pursue."

No registration or entrance fee is required. Attendees are encouraged to stop by, enjoy free refreshments and explore the wide array of information and services available for area seniors. According to a release, participating vendors will be offering information on a number of topics such as nutrition, assisted living, eye health, utility savings and information on the I-Cash program.
“This is a great option for seniors in our communities to take care of important tasks for their health and safety all in one easy location,” Durkin said in a release. “In addition to taking advantage of essential services, health care professionals can provide updates from the medical field and answer important questions.”

According to a release, the Lemont Lions Club will also be collecting eye glasses, hearing aids, cell phones and keys.
