Slight Tornado Risk, Severe Storms, High Winds: Chicago Weather
Storms are expected to develop Monday afternoon, mainly southeast of a Chicago to Peru line.

Severe storms are possible for the Chicago area on Monday afternoon and evening. According to the National Weather Service, there is a significant thunderstorm risk with a limited hail risk for Monday. There is also an elevated damaging wind risk and a limited tornado risk.
The NWS said the storms are expected to develop Monday afternoon, mainly southeast of a Chicago to Peru line. The conditions appear favorable for some storms to become severe, with the main threats being locally damaging winds, though large hail and a brief tornado can't be ruled out.
The storms should develop between 2 to 4 p.m. and will move eastward, exiting towards northwest Indiana and east central Illinois by mid-evening, the NWS said.

Heavy rain is possible with the storms, and some areas could see 2+ inches per hour. Rain and storms are also expected Tuesday, according to the NWS.
