Severe Storms Possible Friday As Temps Rise To 90 Degrees

ILLINOIS — The end of the work week may be a stormy one, as the National Weather Service is already saying severe thunderstorms are possible Friday.
Friday will be hot and humid with a high of 91 degrees, with heat index values possibly exceeding 95 degrees. According to the weather service, severe storms are possible in the late afternoon and evening on Friday, and the biggest threat with the storms is damaging wind.

The graphic above puts most of the Chicago area at a 2 on the severe weather risk level scale of 5. According to the weather service, there is an elevated severe thunderstorm risk on Friday, as well as a limited flooding risk and a limited excessive heat risk.
