ILLINOIS — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for DuPage, Cook, Kane, McHenry, DeKalb, and Lake counties and is in effect until 9 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather Service said scattered storms are possible across parts of northern Illinois and northwest Indiana on Tuesday afternoon.

The watch in Winnebago, Ogle, Lee and Boone counties has been cancelled as storms have already moved east of that area.

Some storms may have damaging winds and hail, and tornadoes and hail are possible. More scattered storms are also possible Tuesday night, and are most likely along and south of I-80.
