Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued, Large Hail Possible
The storms are developing to the north in Wisconsin ahead of an approaching cold front, the weather service said.
ILLINOIS — A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for a large part of northern Illinois until 11 p.m. Tuesday. The National Weather service said counties under the watch include Boone, Carroll, Cook, De Kalb, DuPage, Jo Daviess, Kane, Kendall, Lake, Lee, McHenry, Ogle, Stephenson, Whiteside, Will and Winnebago.
The storms are developing to the north in Wisconsin ahead of an approaching cold front, the weather service said. As the front approaches northern Illinois early Tuesday evening, there could be a few isolated thunderstorms.
If storms do develop, the weather service said they could be severe with large hail and damaging wind gusts. The most likely time for severe weather look to be between 6 and 10 p.m.
