Six Lemont Student-Athletes Make College Commitments
The student-athletes include Brandon Johnson, Carter Storti, Matas Castillo, Rokas Castillo, Sage Mardjetko and Lauren Meyer.

LEMONT, IL — Six Lemont High School student-athletes have announced their commitments to play collegiately beginning in Fall 2023, Lemont High School said in a news release. The student-athletes include baseball players Brandon Johnson (Lake Land College) and Carter Storti (University of Wisconsin-Parkside), basketball players Matas Castillo (University of Wisconsin-Parkside) and Rokas Castillo (University of Wisconsin-Parkside), softball player Sage Mardjetko (University of South Carolina), and volleyball player Lauren Meyer (Trinity International University).

- Has earned three varsity letters in basketball playing for head coach Rick Runaas
- Has helped Lemont to a composite 56-20 record in three seasons
- Two-time All-South Suburban Conference performer who has averaged 6.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game over his career
- Point guard who will serve as a team captain as a senior
- The team set a single-season school record with its 27 wins, captured its first IHSA Regional title since 1991, and won its first sectional crown since 1975
- Plays travel basketball with Full Package
- Is ranked as the No. 39 player from Illinois in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops
- High Honor Roll student
- Will play for head coach Luke Reigel at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, an NCAA Division II institution that is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
Rokas Castillo – Career Highlights
- Has earned three varsity letters in basketball playing for head coach Rick Runaas
- Has helped Lemont to a composite 56-20 record in three seasons
- Two-time All-South Suburban Conference performer who has averaged 7.8 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.6 assists per game over his career
- Shooting guard who will serve as a team captain as a senior
- Helped Lemont to an historic season, as it finished with a 27-8 overall record and was the SSC Blue runner-up
- The team set a single-season school record with its 27 wins, captured its first IHSA Regional title since 1991, and won its first sectional crown since 1975
- Plays travel basketball with Full Package
- Is ranked as the No. 40 player from Illinois in the Class of 2023 by Prep Hoops
- High Honor Roll student

- Righthanded pitcher who also has seen time in the infield
- Has helped Lemont to a composite 48-20 record over two seasons, as well as two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles and two IHSA Regional crowns
- Is a .340 career hitter who has been successful on 22-of-23 stolen base attempts in his career
- Has posted a 7-3 record with two saves and a 2.12 ERA in 18 career appearances, fanning 92 in 72.2 innings
- Earned SSC Blue Player of the Year accolades as a junior in 2022
- Plays travel baseball with Illinois Premier
- Was part of a relay team that qualified for the IHSA Boys’ Swimming State Finals as a freshman in 2020

- Will play for head coach Julio Godinez at Lake Land College, a National Junior College Athletic Association Division I institution that is located in Mattoon, and is a member of the Great Rivers Athletic Conference.
Sage Mardjetko – Career Highlights
- Has earned two varsity letters playing for head coach Chris Traina
- Right handed pitcher who ranks among the nation’s top players
- Has helped Lemont to a composite 62-11 record in two seasons, two South Suburban Conference-Blue Division titles, one IHSA Class 3A State Championship, and one state runner-up finish
- Over two seasons, has posted a record of 37-3 with a 0.29 ERA and 588 strikeouts (15.49 per seven innings)
- Two-time Illinois Coaches Association Class 3A All-State honoree
- Cited as the 2021-22 Gatorade Illinois Softball Player of the Year and SSC Blue Player of the Year as a junior in 2022
- Tossed 17 shutouts, and her 11 no-hitters ranks seventh on the IHSA’s single-season list
- Threw a perfect game in the IHSA Super-Sectional to defeat Metamora
- Became the first player since 1999 to throw a no-hitter in a state championship game when she beat St. Ignatius
- Lemont set a single-season school record for victories as it finished with a 34-6 record, won its second straight SSC Blue title, and captured the program’s first state championship
- Has starred in travel softball for the Beverly Bandits, helping it to a third-place national finish in 2021 and a national runner-up finish in 2022
- Played in the Premier Girls Fastpitch Futures Game in 2021
- High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
- Will play for head coach Beverly Smith at the University of South Carolina, an NCAA Division I institution that is located in Columbia, South Carolina, and is a member of the Southeastern Conference.
Lauren Meyer – Career Highlights
- Earned two varsity letters playing for head coach Chris Zogata
- Helped Lemont to a composite 46-30 record in two seasons, including a 25-1 mark in South Suburban Conference play
- Lemont won two SSC titles and two IHSA Regional crowns
- Totaled 158 assists, 59 digs, 13 service aces, and 78 service points over her career
- Her team scored a point on 59 percent of her career serves (78 of 133)
- Was third on the team with 69 assists and added 26 digs and five aces as a senior in 2022
- Lemont went 26-13, won the SSC Blue title with a perfect 13-0 league mark, captured an IHSA Regional title, and finished as the IHSA Sectional runner-up
- Plays travel volleyball with Illinois Performance Volleyball, and helped her team to a division title at the AAU Junior Nationals
- Also serves as a youth coach with Illinois Performance Volleyball
- High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
- Will play for head coach Luke Ward at Trinity International University, an NAIA institution that is located in Deerfield, and is a member of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference.
Carter Storti – Career Highlights
- Has earned one varsity letter playing for head coach Brian Storako
- Has seen time as a shortstop and as a righthanded pitcher
- Earned All-South Suburban Conference-Blue Division honors as a junior in 2022
- Batted .289 with 13 RBIs, was a perfect 8-of-8 in stolen base attempts, and walked 14 times against just five strikeouts
- Went 2-1 on the mound with a 2.50 ERA in 33.2 innings of work, striking out 49
- Led the team with seven starts and was second in strikeouts and innings pitched
- Plays travel baseball with Rhino Baseball
- Has earned four Perfect Game all-tournament honors and is ranked among the top 200 players in the state
- Honor Roll student
- Will play for head coach Zac Charbonneau at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, an NCAA Division II institution that is located in Kenosha, Wisconsin, and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
