Snow, Freezing Rain, Bitter Cold Moves Into IL

Another storm system will hit the area on Tuesday and bring a mix of snow, sleet and freezing rain. The National Weather Service said snow and freezing drizzle are likely on Tuesday night. Before the snow on Tuesday, wind chills as low as -17 on Sunday night into Monday morning, and -5 on Monday night into Tuesday morning.

Temps will warm slightly on Tuesday, which has a high of 37, and that's when snow, freezing rain and sleet will move into the area. There is a chance of precipitation all day Tuesday, and gusts could get up to 20 mph.

The NWS said Wednesday also has a chance of freezing drizzle and snow, but that should end by Wednesday evening. Thursday and Friday both feature a chance of snow, and temps will take a dip once again on Friday. While the high for Thursday is 24 degrees, Friday's high is only 8 degrees.

• WEDNESDAY: A slight chance of freezing drizzle, mixing with snow after 11 a.m., then gradually ending. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 29. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
• WEDNESDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 13.
• THURSDAY: A slight chance of snow after noon. Partly sunny, with a high near 24.
