Snowfall Totals; Bitter Cold Temps Move In

It could get down to -15 degrees with wind chill on Saturday evening.

Many communities saw more than six inches of snow as a result of the storm on Jan. 19. The northern suburbs saw the most snow, according the National Weather Service. McHenry tops the list with 10 inches of snow, followed by Palatine with 9.5 inches.

O'Hare received 5 inches of snow, Midway saw 5.3, Joliet had 5.5 inches and Romeoville reported 4.1 inches of snow.

Blowing and drifting snow is expected for the rest of the day, the NWS said. Temps will also start to drop as winds drive a bitterly cold air mass into the region. Wind chills will drive temperatures down to 0 degrees, and Saturday night could see -15 degrees.

The NWS said lake effect snow showers are expected Saturday afternoon, and a heavier band of lake effect snow is expected Saturday evening. Areas near the lake will see additional snow accumulations.
