Community Corner

Something I want you to know...about the pressures of middle school. Questions have been asked, answers will be offered.

A presentation/panel format based on the surveys of more than 600 local middle school students and many, many of their parents.

Our Middle School youth have questions and they have been invited to ask them anonymously.

Questions about the pressures and life in middle school: social, peer, homework,
drugs, alcohol, vaping, anxiety and more.. hundreds of sincere "I'd
want to know" questions were submitted via survey.
Now we will try to offer some answers.....

"Something I want you to know"
....Monday October 23rd at 6pm in the Old Quarry Middle School Gym
a panel of concerned adults, all who survived their middle school
years, have committed to be present to help answer as many of these
questions as they can.
A local young man who survived 4 years in the Army and remembers well the pressures of Middle School.

A Lemont High School counselor.
A Lemont High School student.

And we'll have a time of live question texting.

This will be a very unique and conversation stirring night.

This will be a great opportunity for student and parent to listen and learn.

If you read through these questions you would understand that an outreach of this caliber has been long overdue and hopefully will be only the first of it's kind. Youth are battling challenges that are far beyond what their parents ever did, and in turn parents are battling challenges of parenting far greater than their parents ever did. We can team up and help each other.

Not that you need extra encouragement to attend, but.....
there will be prizes, raffles, the gift of a date night for parents, gift
cards, OQMS Snack Shack Coupons, and an attendance competition between
Old Quarry 6th, 7th and 8th grade.

Which grade will leave victorious? Each Old Quarry Student's
presence counts for their
grade level!
