SSCM Celebrates Catholic School's Week

SS. Cyril and Methodius students attend a special prayer service with guest speakers from the Lemont Police Department.

Catholic School’s Week celebrations continued on Monday, January 26 at SS. Cyril and Methodius with a special prayer service. Students in grades PreK-8th attended the service and several students participated in the service by doing readings and intentions as well as offering up gifts that symbolize Catholic Education. Multiple students from all grades were also recognized during the prayer service for their outstanding good deeds done during school. These students were recognized as being the ”Kindness Counts Stars” of the month-- a monthly tradition started this year at SSCM that recognizes students who are noted for doing good deeds. To end the service, SSCM students were given the opportunity to meet former Police Chief Kevin Shaughnessy as well as current Police Chief Marc Maton and listen to a few words about their background and service to our city. Catholic School’s week celebrations will continue Tuesday, January 27, SS. Cyril with Student Appreciation Day which includes a special lunch for all the students as well as a showing of the movie ”The Prince of Egypt” in the afternoon.
