St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick Eighth Graders Take First At Academic Bowl

LEMONT, IL — St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School Academy eighth graders won their grade division at the Academic Bowl held at Providence Catholic High School.

According to the school, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick and 12 other teams participated in the annual Academic Bowl, which includes a written test on a variety of subjects.

The school said St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick placed first in the eighth grade division, and also brought home six individual awards:

• Haley Young, first place, science, eighth grade
• Sophia Sojka, third place, Language Arts, eighth grade
• Nathan Murray, fourth place, social science, eighth grade
• Brody Sloan, third place, social science, seventh grade
• Tommy Markun, fourth place, math, seventh grade
• Joseph Piotrowski, fifth place, social science, seventh grade

Eighth grade team members include Kathryn Carnaghi, Nathan Gawenda, Ana Kybartas, Carey Laga, Nathan Murray, William Schaum, Sophia Sojka, Trestle Tomcho, Kaitlyn Wilson and Haley Young.
