St. Alphonsus, St. Patrick School Wins Two Scholastic Bowls
The school recently won two back-to-back Scholastic Bowls.
LEMONT, IL — St. Alphonsus, St.Patrick School competed and won two scholastic bowls on Nov. 7 and 9. Competing against 28 teams at Benet Academy, on Nov. 7, St. Alphonsus, St. Patrick won first place in the overall competition among local eighth grade teams. On Nov. 9, they competed with 20 teams at the Nazareth Academy Scholastic Bowl. They completed the competition with a final round score of 137 to 43. In four, all-subject academic competitions this year, St. Alphonsus, St. Patrick School has placed first three times and third once.
“Our teachers have us well prepared for these competitions. Going into a competition we study and practice," Eighth grade team member Scarlette O’Hara said in a release, "During the event, we are a bit nervous, but it is all worth it when we do so well. It brings us closer together as a school family.”
The school said students get a chance to answer questions in science, math, literature, social studies and fine
arts. There’s also a miscellaneous section that covers topics from movies and TV shows.
