St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick Wins At Volleyball, Math Competitions

Eighth grade teams recently took home first place at the volleyball championship and at an annual math competition.

LEMONT, IL — St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick School students recently took home some academic and athletic achievements, with a win at the volleyball championship and at the annual math competition.

In October, the school defeated St. Cyril and Methodius in two sets to win the Tri-County Catholic Conference 8A girls volleyball championship, according to the school. Team members included: Kathryn Carnaghi, Sophia Bushman, Ana Kybartas, Sophia Sojka, Haley Young, Fallyn Arnold and Kaitlyn Wilson.

Then, on Nov. 5, St. Alphonsus/St. Patrick competed with 19 other schools at the annual Montini Catholic math competition. 250 mathletes in sixth through eighth grade competed in the competition overall, according to the school.

The school said the eighth grade team won first place at the competition. The eighth-grade mathletes were Katie, Corey, Chris, Will, and Haley. Will won ninth place, and Corey took third place in the individual awards category.
