Storms, 'Unsettled Weather:' Chicago Labor Day Weekend Forecast

Unsettled weather will come to the area this weekend, but there will still be some dry periods.

If you're spending some time outside this Labor Day weekend, you can expect some periods of showers and storms, but some dry hours as well. According to the National Weather Service, a period of unsettled weather is setting up for the weekend and into next week. Warm and humid conditions are expected with periodic chances for thunderstorms.

For Labor Day weekend, the NWS said there is a chance that some of the stronger storms may be severe, with strong winds and large hail being the primary threats.

The entire weekend is forecast to be humid, with a high of 87 degrees for Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Saturday has a limited risk for severe thunderstorms and an elevated flooding risk, according to the NWS. Sunday also has a limited severe thunderstorm risk and a limited flooding risk.

  • FRIDAY NIGHT: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
  • SATURDAY: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. South wind 10 to 15 mph.
  • SATURDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71. South southwest wind around 10 mph.
  • SUNDAY: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 85. South southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.
  • SUNDAY NIGHT: A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.
  • MONDAY: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 86.
  • MONDAY NIGHT: A slight chance of showers before 1 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 71.
