Storms To Start The Week, Pleasant Temps Continue In IL

ILLINOIS — Storms will start the work week off across the Chicago area. According to the National Weather Service, a strong cold front will move across the area Monday night, bringing showers and storms. These storms could produce locally heavy rainfall and the potential for localized flooding. There is also a chance that some of the stronger storms could become severe with damaging winds.

Before storms on Monday, temps will be in the 70s with a high of 79 degrees, the NWS said. After storms on Monday, the dry weather will return and Tuesday will be 80 degrees. Milder temperatures will stick around on Wednesday and Thursday which have a high of 77 and 80.

Rain could return on Friday, according to the NWS. There is a chance of showers and storms, and the high for the day will be 80 degrees.

  • TUESDAY: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 80. West wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
