Stormy Start To The Week, Big Cool Down: Chicago-Area Weather

CHICAGO, IL — Storms are expected for the beginning of the week, before the weather clears and temperatures in the 80s return. According to the National Weather Service, thunderstorms could shift into far northern Illinois Sunday night. Severe weather is not expected with these storms, but there could be some gusty winds.

Storms are also expected Monday and Tuesday, according to the NWS. There is some risk for severe thunderstorms and heavy rainfall on Monday afternoon and evening. Another round of strong to severe storms and heavy rain could occur Tuesday, mainly south of I-80.

The heat will stick around on Monday, and heat indices will reach up to 95 degrees. Tuesday will be cooler, with a high of 83 degrees.

Clear skies return on Wednesday, which has a high of 83 degrees. Thursday will also be clear and sunny with of 86. According to the NWS, storms could return on Friday, which has a high of 85 degrees.
