LEMONT, IL — For the first time in a decade, school is back in session at Central School.
District 113A students headed back to school on Wednesday, including fourth and fifth graders at Central School.
The school has undergone renovations for over a year, after the community successfully passed a referendum to renovate and reopen the school, which had been closed since 2011.

The renovations included a 9,000-square-foot addition to the school, and 50,440 square feet of renovations. The school includes 23 classrooms, seven resource offices, an art room, music room, gymnasium, library, STEM lab, breakout rooms, teacher support space and an expanded main office area.
The surface of the playground will be poured soon, Superintendent Anthony McConnell said, adding that a "few odds and ends" are being finished up.
