Taste Of Spring For Chicago As Temps Get To 50 Degrees

The sun will also make a reappearance Sunday after several days of cloud cover.

ILLINOIS — The Chicago area will get a taste of spring Sunday as temperatures are expected to get up to 54 degrees. Before that, however, the National Weather Service said there is another round of light wintry precipitation expected Friday night.

There will be a mix of snow and freezing rain Friday night, according to the weather service. A few slippery spots will be possible, but snow accumulation will be light.

Saturday has a high of 39 degrees, and it should be dry, but cloudy. The weather service said the sun will reappear Sunday after several days of cloud cover for the area.

Not only will it be sunny Sunday, but the high for the day will be 54 degrees. Monday also has a similar high of 52 degrees expected, the weather service said.

Friday night: A chance of rain, snow, and freezing rain before midnight, then a chance of snow and freezing drizzle between midnight and 3 a.m., then a slight chance of freezing drizzle after 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low around 31. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30 percent.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 36. West southwest wind 5 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Saturday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 51. West southwest wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Sunday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 32.
