85-Degree Temps, Severe Storms Possible For Illinois This Weekend

ILLINOIS — Periods of thunderstorms are expected this weekend, as well as some increasingly warm temperatures. A cold front has pushed through Illinois on Friday, keeping temperatures in the 50s for most of the area, according to the National Weather Service. The front is expected to lift back north as a warm front on Friday night, and there is a chance of thunderstorms across the area. Some storms may be strong to severe, producing large hail and damaging winds.

Saturday will also see a chance of thunderstorms, and the high for the day is 85 degrees. The NWS said there is a chance of storms Saturday afternoon and evening. Storms on Saturday could produce locally heavy rainfall, and bring renewed flooding potential.

Storms are also likely on Sunday, and could be severe in the afternoon and evening. The high on Sunday will be 76 degrees.
