Tesla FC Gives Lemont A Top Level Youth Soccer Club

Tesla FC President and Coach, Branko Smileski looks out across the campus of Mt. Assissi, monitoring each team practicing on the different fields. "I want each of these kids to reach their goals as soccer players", says Coach Branko. "We have to make sure that we are giving the players the tools to be successful. That doesn't necessarily mean winning every game but being the best player that they can be and competing at all time. Always in the game." Tesla FC competes in the Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL) at the Platinum level. The platinum level teams are the best teams in the club category. This means tough games every week and sometimes tough losses. The oldest team in the Tesla lineup, the 2006 team, had a tough time this past Fall season. Coach Craig Phillips, who is also a parent at Tesla FC, thinks this past Fall season is just a stepping stone to greater achievements for the 2006 team, "We were in every game, no one blew us out. More than half of our team are kids that are still learning the game, but give their all when they step on that field. A little more work and this team is ready to explode." Coach Branko, a former professional player, agrees that more work needs to be done, " The '06 team just needs work and a few more players and we will be right there. The other age divisions are doing great and we are getting these guys ready for high school and college now." With a smile Coach Branko states, "Just like Nikola Tesla the great Serbian scientist, we are infusing this team with electricity that will energize them and push them to greatness, Hah!"
