And then we shall wait.
Holy Saturday is the day we are to stop, reflect, refuel, and renew, for our love and light will be needed in the morning.

"I wait for the LORD, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope. " ~ Psalm 130:5
Waiting is one of the most painful actions that we have to commit to.
The phone call, the email, the visit. We wait to know if it is good news. We wait to hear the bad news. We wait to hear if we have been chosen for the job, the role, the position, by one we hope to find us "likeable".
How difficult it must have been for the disciples, his followers, and his mother to stay faithful to their decree to observe the Sabbath, when they simply wanted to stand at watch of the tomb that held their Messiah. They heard the words that he spoke to them, yet they were in such mourning that they just could not see past the happenings of the prior day.

How often do we get stuck on focusing on what has happened instead of making sure to open our eyes and hearts to what could be possible. Our story can not be written if we refuse to let the pages turn.
The challenge today is to sit and be.
Take the opportunity to put yourself in a place of quiet reflection and think of what you are holding onto. What are you refusing to let go of that is keeping you stagnant, not allowing you to move into the the next chapter.

We are very good at being busy, keeping active, having noise fill our ears and our days. Sun up to Sun down we fill the days with activity. To stop, be still, reflect on what has been, and what is to be, and take a knee is what Holy Saturday is about.
Unlike the disciples, we already know that the Resurrection will come in the morning. We know there is a reason to rejoice, but we cannot miss the opportunity to be still and challenge ourselves to reflect on where we have been wandering, and where we should be going.
"We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noises and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature-trees, flowers, grass-grow in silence. Is not our mission to give God to those we walk with? Not a dead God, but a living, loving God. The more we receive in silent prayer, the more we can give in active life. We need silence to be able to touch souls. The essential thing is not what we say, but what God says to us and through us. Words that don't give the light of Christ increase the darkness." ~ Mother Teresa
Before the morning, take a moment to be purposefully present with the One who understands the power of silence. On this day he stayed silent not because he couldn't do otherwise, but because he choose to allow us the opportunity to reflect, refuel, and renew our commitment to join him in being the love and light of the promised tomorrow.
