Storms, 45 MPH Wind Gusts, Temps In The 40s For IL This Weekend

ILLINOIS — We might see milder temperatures this weekend, but it still won't be a great weekend to spend outdoors in northern Illinois. A strong storm system will bring rain to the area this weekend. The National Weather Service said rain and a chance of thunderstorms are expected on Saturday, and very windy conditions will develop late Saturday night into Sunday.

Rainfall on Saturday afternoon could lead to minor localized flooding, the NWS said. There will be around 3/4 of a inch of rain through Saturday evening. Localized ice jam flooding is also possible on area rivers.

Temps will be in the 40s on both Saturday and Sunday, with a high of 48 on Saturday and a high of 41 expected on Sunday. The NWS said winds could gust up to 45 mph on Saturday night into Sunday.

• FRIDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 27. East wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.
• SATURDAY: Rain and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly after noon. High near 45. Breezy, with an east southeast wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
• SATURDAY NIGHT: Rain before 4 a.m., then a slight chance of rain and snow. Low around 34. Breezy, with a southeast wind 15 to 25 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.
• SUNDAY: Partly sunny, with a high near 40. Breezy, with a west wind 20 to 25 mph, with gusts as high as 35 mph.
• SUNDAY NIGHT: Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.
