Tornado Threat, Severe Storms Possible For IL
There is a tornado threat with any storms that interact with a warm front near the south suburbs and west of Chicago.
ILLINOIS — A tornado warning previously issued for Aurora, Oswego and Montgomery has been allowed to expire. The National Weather Service said there is a tornado threat with any storms that interact with a warm front near the south suburbs and west of Chicago.
Tornado warnings were issued for communities near Rockford and DeKalb on Thursday, and additional storms will be possible into Thursday evening.
2 PM Update: We are watching one currently tornado-warned cell in Ogle County. Additional storms will be possible this afternoon, some of which could be strong-severe. The tornado threat is roughly either side of a Rochelle to Aurora to Monee line, according to the NWS. Threats with the storms could also include large hail and strong wind gusts.

There is also additional rain and storms expected Thursday night. The NWS said there is a threat for strong wind gusts with those storms, but the severe weather potential is expected to diminish.
