80 MPH Winds Reported, Storm Warnings For Northern IL
Tornadoes are possible with these storms, and the NWS said to take cover before the storms are in your area.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Kendall, Lake, northern Will, Kane, southeastern McHenry, DuPage and Cook counties until 6 p.m. According to the National Weather Service, a line of severe storms has been located along a line extending from near Woodstock to Elgin to Serena.
Hazards with this storm include: 70 mph wind gusts. The NWS said to expect considerable tree damage. Damage also is likely to mobile homes, roofs and outbuildings.

The greatest chance of storms, including the potential for isolated severe storms is Tuesday afternoon through the evening. According to the National Weather Service, there is a significant thunderstorm risk with an elevated damaging wind risk, as well as a limited tornado risk and a limited hail risk. The primary severe threat is isolated damaging wind gusts up to 60 mph, but an isolated tornado or two cannot be ruled out.

The wind threat will move into the Chicago area around 6:30 p.m. Most of the Chicago area will be impacted by these storms between 7 and 8 p.m. as the storms move northeast into the area.
