Tornadoes Possible, Severe Storms, Heavy Rain Expected In IL
Severe storms are possible on Monday afternoon and into Monday night.
ILLINOIS — Severe weather is possible Monday for most of the Chicago area. The National Weather Service said a strong weather system is expected to bring rain and thunderstorms on Monday afternoon into Monday night.
Storms could be strong to severe, and there will also be heavy rainfall which could cause localized flooding. Flash flooding could occur along and south of I-80, according to the NWS. Rain totals of 1 to 2 inches with localized amounts of up to 3 to 4 inches are possible.

The NWS said the potential threats with the storms are damaging winds up to 60 to 70 mph, large hail up to quarter size, heavy rain and tornadoes, mainly north of I-80.
