Tornado Watch Issued For Will, Kendall, Grundy Counties

Large hail, 60 mph winds and tornadoes are possible with severe storms Saturday night.

ILLINOIS — A tornado watch has been issued for multiple counties in Northern Illinois, including Will, Kendall, Kane, Grundy and DeKalb, until 2 a.m. Sunday. Severe weather could hit areas including Joliet, Minooka, Bolingbrook, Aurora, Boulder Hill, Elgin, Oswego, Yorkville and other nearby communities.

Meanwhile, a tornado warning was in effect until 9:45 p.m. Saturday in Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties.

A wind advisory is also in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday for central Cook, DuPage, eastern Will, Grundy, Lake, McHenry, Kane and Kendall counties. The advisory warns of "southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts to 50 mph."

On Friday, the National Weather Service said an outbreak of severe thunderstorms was possible Saturday afternoon and evening, with the threat of significant tornadoes. While the threat appeared to dissipate early Saturday evening, a new weather advisory was issued later in the evening before a tornado watch took effect around 8:45 p.m.
