Two Lemont Student-Athletes Make College Commitments
The student-athletes are football player Matt Milan and cheerleader Kate Roenitz.
LEMONT, IL — Two Lemont High School seniors have made commitments to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level. The school said the student-athletes are football player Matt Milan (Illinois Wesleyan University) and cheerleader Kate Roenitz (Grand Valley State University).
Matt Milan – Career Highlights
- Picked up two varsity letters playing for head coach Bret Kooi
- Earned the starting nod at quarterback as a senior in 2018
- Served as a team captain
- Completed 49-of-97 passes for 464 yards with seven touchdowns and four interceptions
- Also was the team’s fourth-leading rusher, totaling 82 yards on 26 carries
- Lemont went 5-5, finished as the SSC Blue runner-up with a 5-1 league mark, and advanced to the IHSA Class 6A Playoffs
- Made his varsity debut as a junior in 2017, serving as the back-up quarterback
- High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
- Will play for head coach Norm Eash at Illinois Wesleyan University, an NCAA Division III institution that is located in Bloomington, and is a member of the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin.

- Three-year member of the varsity squad for head coach Dave Erlenbaugh
- Helped Lemont to three state finals appearances, including consecutive IHSA Medium Division State Championships, during her career
- Tabbed with the “Leadership Award” as a senior in 2019
- Lemont placed fifth at the 2019 IHSA Medium Division State Finals, and also posted runner-up finishes in IHSA Sectional and South Suburban Conference-Blue Division competition
- During her junior year in 2018, Lemont was the SSC Blue runner-up and captured its first IHSA Sectional title since 2010 before going on to win the 2018 IHSA Medium Division State Championship
- As a sophomore, the Indians won an SSC Blue title before capturing the 2017 IHSA Medium Division State Championship
- High Honor Roll and National Honor Society student
- Will cheer for head coach Brandy Skantze at Grand Valley State University, an NCAA Division II institution that is located in Allendale, Michigan, and is a member of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
