Two New District 113A Board Members Take Seats

LEMONT, IL — Two new District 113A Board of Education members took their seats, and the Board said goodbye to two outgoing members at its April 26 meeting.

Joe Pogvara and Angie Andrus joined the Board as new members. The district said both new members have children that attend school in District 113A and are excited to give back to the community through their service on the board.

Andrus received a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Western Illinois University, according to a release from the District. She has a passion for pediatrics and has worked as a pediatric speech-language pathologist in a variety of settings, including schools, outpatient rehab, and home-based early intervention. She is currently the co-owner and Speech Coordinator of Kids Can Do Pediatric Center in Mokena, with over 25 years of experience.

Pogvara received his degree from Western Illinois University where he studied sociology and journalism. He has vast experience in the logistics industry where he has worked in operations and sales for the past 17 years. Pogvara has been a resident of Lemont for 13 years, and he and his wife have two children that attend District 113A schools, according to a release from the District.

“The Board is excited to welcome Joe and Angie. They both bring excellent knowledge and
experience to their new roles. We look forward to working with them in the years to come,”
Board President Damon Ascolani said in a release.

The Board also said goodbye to Cindy Kelly and Brian Bushnell. Kelly has served the District 113A community for 12 years and Bushnell has a combined 6 years of service as a board member, according to the District.

Board President Damon Ascolani thanked both Bushnell and Kelly, commenting on Bushnell’s “huge advocacy for our kids and our District," and thanking Kelly for her “willingness to do anything for our district.”
