Under the Sea in Lemont: SS. Cyril & Methodius School Drama Club Presents The Little Mermaid Jr. March 11-13

(LEMONT, IL) — The SS. Cyril & Methodius School Drama Club will present Disney’s The Little Mermaid Jr. March 11–13 at 7 p.m. each evening in the SS. Cyril & Methodius School Gymnasium in Lemont. The musical is adapted from Disney’s 2008 Broadway production and the 1989 animated feature film.

Featuring more than 60 student performers and over 250 costumes, the production brings Ariel’s magical underwater kingdom to life with lively choreography, colorful staging, and beloved songs including “Under the Sea,” “Part of Your World,” and “Kiss the Girl.”

Performance Information

Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for non-SSCM students and seniors. Children under age 2 are free. Seating is general admission. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the performance includes a 15-minute intermission.

Cash-only concessions will be available, including mermaid- and “Under the Sea”-themed treats. Following each performance, members of the lead cast will be available for photos with young fans, and younger audience members are encouraged to wear their favorite mermaid or ocean-themed attire.

About the Production

In this adaptation of the classic Disney story, Ariel (played by Ala Labuda) dreams of life beyond the sea despite the watchful eye of her father, King Triton (played by Maciek Blaszynski). With the help of her loyal friend Flounder (played by Cassandra Krupa) and the ever-watchful court composer Sebastian (played by Johnny Antolak), Ariel ventures toward the world above.

Her journey leads her into the clutches of the sea witch Ursula (played by Karina Khan), joined by her eels Flotsam and Jetsam (played by Jacqueline Dodaro and Freyja Boyden). On land, Ariel encounters Prince Eric (played by Michael Bialas), along with his guardian Grimsby (played by Helenka Galicia). Ariel’s adventure also brings her face-to-face with Scuttle (played by Michael Plewa), Chef Louis (played by Louis Dodaro), and Carlotta (played by Nellie Curylo).

Production Team

The production is directed by Amanda Krupa. Choreography is led by SS. Cyril & Methodius and Lemont High School alumna Veronika Antolak, and Jackie Antolak serves as assistant director and costume designer.

Families and community members are invited to attend and support these talented local students as they bring this beloved Disney story to life on stage.
