United SERTOMA Lemont Donates $5K To Shady Oaks Camp

United SERTOMA has raised and distributed over $625,000 to local causes in Lemont​ and surrounding communities over the past 20 years.

LEMONT, IL — The United SERTOMA Lemont Charter recently made a donation to Shady Oaks Camp in Homer Glen. The summer camp serves people with disabilities, and SERTOMA Lemont donated $5,000 to help with the costs of running the camp.

United SERTOMA has raised and distributed over $625,000 to local causes in Lemont and surrounding communities over the past 20 years, according to the club's website.

Donation chairman and 12-year member Russell Zimny said most of the members of the group are from Lemont, Lockport and Homer Glen. The group donates to local food pantries in Lemont, Lockport Love and other community organizations and nonprofits.

United SERTOMA stands for service to mankind, and is dedicated to helping the community and those less fortunate. Bill Martin serves as president of the Lemont charter.

According to its website, Shady Oaks Camp is a summer camp for people with disabilities. The camp was founded in the 1940s in Homer Glen and the camp is funded entirely by money raised by the parents of those who send their child to camp. Shady Oaks Camp is located at 16300 Parker Road.
