Vehicle Runs Over Hydrant in Downtown Lemont, Causes Discolored Water
A vehicle that ran over a fire hydrant in downtown Lemont has caused some residents to report brown or rusty-looking water.

LEMONT, IL - A vehicle that ran over a fire hydrant in downtown Lemont has caused some residents to report brown or rusty-looking water.
At 8:30 p.m. April 30, a vehicle ran over a fire hydrant on Main Street behind Sweetwater Deli in downtown Lemont, public works said.
"The hydrant was running full capacity until we were able to remove the vehicle from the shut down valve," Public Works Director Ralph Pukula said.

Several residents reported brown water Sunday night and Pukula said when a water system flows that amount of water it stirs up minerals and creates discolored water.
"Residents should be assured that the water is safe to drink and shower with," Pukula added.
