Snowfall Totals, Record Cold Temperatures For Veterans Day
The early season snowfall and the cold temperatures have broken records this week.
ILLINOIS — The Veterans Day early season snowfall in Illinois has broken the previous record for the day by one and a half inches in Chicago. The National Weather Service said 3.4 inches of snow was observed at O'Hare, which broke the previous record of 1.9 inches in 1995.
The weather service shared snowfall totals from across the area:
- 4.5 inches, Lincolnwood
- 4.3 inches, Marengo
- 3.9 inches, Medinah
- 3.8 inches, Elk Grove Village
- 3.6 inches, Rolling Meadows
- 3.4 inches, O'Hare
- 2.9 inches, Midway
- 2.5 inches, Downers Grove
- 2.4 inches, Oak Park
- 1. 5 inches, Peotone
- 1.4 inches, Romeoville
- 1 inch, Joliet
- 1 inch, Kankakee

Bitterly cold temperatures also moved into the area after the snow, and a record low of 13 degrees was set Monday. Record low temperatures have also already been recorded Tuesday in both Chicago and Rockford, the weather service said.

Chicago had a low of 7 degrees on Tuesday, breaking the previous record of 8 set in 1986. Rockford had a low of 3 degrees, which broke the previous record of 7, also set in 1986.
