Village Board OKs Preliminary Plans for Mixed Housing Development
Estates of Montefiori would be built at the site of the defunct Montefiori Banquets.

The Lemont Village Board Monday approved preliminary plans for a development of 35 single-family homes and 52 townhomes at 11250 Archer Avenue and 12900 Main Street in Lemont.
The 29.75-acre site to be known as Estates of Montefiori is the location of former Montefiori Banquets, which closed abruptly in 2011.
The property is flanked by single-family homes to the east and south, vacant industrial area to the north and Cog Hill Golf Course to the west. Trustees Monday approved amending the village’s zoning map, which previously had the land flagged for commercial use.

Slotting the land for residential use limits competition for other nearby developments, including those the Village attracts to its Gateway Tax Increment Finance District at Archer Avenue and Route 83.
