Village Honors Retiring Finance Director

LEMONT, IL — At Monday's Village Board meeting, retiring Finance Director/Village Treasurer Chris Smith was honored with a proclamation from the board.

Smith was hired by the Village in 2013, according to Mayor John Egofske, who read the proclamation in Smith's honor. Smith was the first director of finance for the Village.

"Chris has been instrumental in the planning, management and oversight of various financial initiatives over her tenure," Egofske said.

Egofske added that the village has earned a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for all nine years that Smith has worked for the Village. The Village has also earned a distinguished budget award for the last seven years.

Smith will officially retire on Aug. 12.

Assistant finance director Darshana Prakash will succeed Smith. Prakash has worked for the Village for five years.
