Named in honor of Potawatomi Chief Keepataw, the event celebrates Lemont’s rich history. The town, named initially Keepataw, later became Athens, then Palmyra, before officially being renamed Lemont in 1850. The event began as a festival in 1950 and has grown to include a vibrant parade.

Organized by Lemont Keepataw Day, a nonprofit 501(c)3 arts, culture, and humanities organization, the Parade and Fun Fest wouldn’t be possible without the support of dedicated volunteers.
