Nearly 90 Degrees, Chance Of Storms: Memorial Day Weekend Weather

Temperatures will be in the upper 80s this weekend, with a chance of severe weather on Saturday.

ILLINOIS — Memorial Day is often considered the unofficial start of summer, and it will certainly feel like summer in Illinois with temperatures near 90 degrees. However, with the warmer temperatures also comes a chance for some showers and thunderstorms.

Saturday will have a high near 82 degrees, and there is a possibility of strong to severe storms on Saturday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. If the atmosphere becomes unstable enough, severe hazards could include hail, damaging winds, and a tornado risk. There could also be heavy downpours with the storms, which could cause isolated flash flooding and renewed river rises.

Sunday and Monday will both be humid, with a high of 87 on Sunday and a high of 86 on Monday. Both days will see a chance of scattered thunderstorms.
