Warm Start To The Week Before Cool Temps Return: Chicago Weather

Warmer temperatures will stick around for the start of the work week, as will as a chance of storms and rain. According to the National Weather Service, there is a limited severe thunderstorm risk and a limited flooding risk on Tuesday, as well as an elevated flooding risk and a significant thunderstorm risk on Wednesday. Although both days will be warm; Tuesday has a high of 87 and Wednesday has a high of 77, rain and storms are likely.

The NWS said there is a potential for heavy rain late Tuesday night into Wednesday. This could result in additional flooding concerns. River levels will remain in flood along some northern Illinois rivers, especially the Pecatonica and Rock rivers.

Temps will cool down on Thursday, which has a high of 55 degrees. Thursday should be dry and sunny, the NWS said. Friday will also be cooler with a high of 53 and a chance of rain after 2 p.m.
