Teen Found Safe After Jumping Off Lemont Bridge: Cops

Several dive teams and fire departments assisted during the incident on Thursday afternoon.

LEMONT, IL — A teenager has been found safe after jumping off of a bridge in Lemont, police said. The man jumped off the Lemont Road bridge around 2:15 p.m. Thursday, and was later found safe after he swam to shore.

His identity has not been released and police said they continue to investigate the incident.

A water rescue took place, near the 11300 block of Lemont Road and the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal. Several area fire and dive teams assisted with the incident, and helicopters were seen circling the area for over an hour.

Several people on social media reported seeing a man jump. One Twitter user shared she saw three males walking on the bridge around 2 p.m. Another reader said she saw two males egging on another male to jump. All three were wearing swim trunks.
