Whiz Kid: Alexandra Lyewski

Each week, Lemont Patch will seek suggestions from readers for individual kids, youth groups, teens and even sports teams that wow us with their accomplishments.

And without further ado, this week's Whiz Kid is...

Age: 17

School:

Accomplishment: Lyewski was honored during the Polish National Alliance's 46th Quadrennial Convention, which was held Aug. 17-21 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Minneapolis. Every four years, PNA delegates from across the nation meet to elect its national officers and to set policy for the next four years. The alliance invites one debutante and one squire from each of its 17 districts to be presented during the convention. 

Lyewski was selected to represent her district during the Debutante and Squire Presentation Ball for Districts 12 and 13, which was held July 17, 2010, in Addison, Ill.

Keys to Awesomeness: Lyewski has been active in the PNA, participating in its national spelling bee, the May 3 Polish Constitution Day Parade and various youth activities. At Lemont High School, she is a member of the National Honor Society, National English Honor Society and the state champion cheerleading squad.
