White Christmas For Illinois? Here's What You Can Expect
Historically, the Chicagoland area has 41-50 percent chance of a white Christmas.

Christmas Day is just six days away, and there's not a flake of snow on the ground. According to the National Weather Service, the Chicago suburbs historically have had a 41 to 50 percent chance of a white Christmas. Will we have a white Christmas this year? Maybe, according to forecasts.
The NWS defines a white Christmas as having at least an inch of snow on the ground. While we don't have any snow cover yet, there could be a chance this weekend.

While Wednesday has no snow in the forecast, there is a chance of a wintry mix possible on Thursday night, especially north of I-80. According to the NWS, the chance of snow appears again on Friday night. While there are no predictions for major accumulation, there could also be a possibility of snow on Sunday, Christmas Eve.

If you were hoping for a large snowfall to blanket the area, you may be disappointed. However, there's a small chance that we may see a couple of flakes falling before Christmas Day.
