Winter Weather Advisory: Freezing Drizzle Could Impact Travel

The rain will start in northern Illinois late Monday evening and spread south overnight.

Freezing drizzle is possible across the Chicago area Monday night and Tuesday morning, and could cause hazardous travel conditions. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from 6 p.m. Monday until 9 a.m. Tuesday for Boone, McHenry, Winnebago, Lake, Ogle, Lee, DeKalb, Kane, DuPage, Cook, La Salle, Kendall, Grundy and Will counties.

The NWS said the freezing drizzle could produce a light glaze of ice accumulation into Tuesday morning. Temperatures in the low to mid 20s will result in the drizzle freezing on contact with any untreated surfaces.

The rain will start in northern Illinois late Monday evening and spread south overnight, the NWS said.
