GURNEE, IL — One person inside a store in Gurnee was injured when a car crashed into the building Tuesday morning, police told Patch.

The collision happened at about 10:40 a.m. in the 900 block of Route 21 when a 2017 Honda HR-V, driven by an 81-year-old man, smashed into the building, smashing the front window.

A preliminary investigation shows the 81-year-old driver mistakenly pressed on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the car to drive into the building, police told Patch Thursday.
