2 Arrested After Fatal Shooting In Mundelein

A man was killed and a woman was seriously injured in what investigators believe was a targeted, domestic-related shooting.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Two people were arrested following a shooting Tuesday morning at a Mundelein apartment, which left one man dead and a woman seriously injured, authorities said.

Police were called to the apartment in the 500 block of Deepwoods Drive at about 11:40 a.m. Tuesday after 911 callers reported that two people had been shot and that one victim was unresponsive, according to a news release from the Lake County Major Crimes Task Force.

Officers arrived and found man and woman with gunshot wounds. The woman was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

The man was also transported to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to a news release.

Police quickly obtained a description of the suspect vehicle and shared the information with law enforcement agencies throughout the region, according to a news release. Illinois State Police later located the vehicle on an interstate near the Indiana border, pulled the vehicle over and took man and woman.

Based on preliminary information, investigators believe the shooting was a targeted, domestic-related incident, police said.

Lake County Major Crime Task Force investigators and Mundelein Police Department detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the homicide.

Authorities have not released the identities of the victim or the people taken into custody.
