2 Firefighters Injured In Blaze Near Mundelein

The blaze broke out Saturday morning in the 26000 block of Maple Avenue near Mundelein.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — Two firefighters were injured in a blaze that left a home near Mundelein uninhabitable Saturday morning.

The blaze broke out at about 9:20 a.m. in the 26000 block of Maple Avenue. When firefighters arrived at the scene they found the blaze on the roof toward the back of the house, according to a news release. They also found a power line down in the backyard.

Fire crews entered the home and extinguished the blaze while ComEd worked to secure the downed electrical wires. One firefighter was taken to a hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to a news release from the Countryside Fire Protection District.

The other firefighter was not taken to a hospital for treatment.

The people living in the house were able to safely get out before fire crews arrived at the scene.

The home is uninhabitable and Red Cross is helping the displaced family. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
