'Paint the Town Purple' Cancer Fundraiser Held in Memory of Libertyville Man

Fundraiser for Pancreatic Cancer

Please join the fight against Pancreatic Cancer by attending the 3rd annual event “Paint the Town Purple for Pancreatic Cancer.” The event will kick off at Viva Le Vine Wine Bar in Downtown Libertyville (338 N. Milwaukee Ave.) on Wednesday, November 12, from 5 to 8 pm. Select businesses in Downtown Libertyville have band together for the third year to help raise awareness and funds to help in the fight against Pancreatic Cancer. This event is held in honor of a former local resident, Peter Pekkarinen, whom lost his life to Pancreatic Cancer in 2012. Participating stores include: Viva Le Vine, Christine Anne COUTURE, Buss Flower Shop, How Impressive!, Full DisClothesure, Vito Anthony Salon, and Artist @ Heart. By attending the event, individuals will have an opportunity to make purchases at each of the participating businesses, vie for great raffle prizes including lower level BLACKHAWKS or BULLS tickets with parking, bid on silent auction items, and enjoy complementary wine tastings with good company. It is an amazing night!

November is Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month. Pancreatic Cancer has become one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and the fourth leading cause of cancer death in the U.S. It stands out among other commonly diagnosed cancers with only a five-year survival rate of six percent. Please come out to join Peter’s family in this fight!

In lieu of attending, donations to Pancreatic Cancer research in Peter’s name can be made online at:
