82 Tickets Issued, 4 Arrests Made During Distracted Driving Campaign

The Lake County Sheriff's Office took part in the distracted driving campaign during April.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The results are in from a recent distracted driving campaign in Lake County.

During the campaign, which ran through the month of April, Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies issued 52 citations for distracted driving, according to a news release from the sheriff's office. Authorities also handed out 16 tickets for speeding, seven tickets for operating an uninsured vehicle and seven tickets for other traffic offenses.

Police also made three arrests for driving without a valid driver's license and arrested one on a warrant for failure to appear in court.

The sheriff’s office joined forces with the Illinois State Police, local law enforcement and highway safety partners for this enforcement effort. The Illinois distracted driving campaign is funded with federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
