LIBERTYVILLE — The popular summer concert series at Independence Grove Forest Preserve is returning with a mix of tribute bands, local talent and lakeside views.
Concerts in the Plaza will run Tuesday evenings from June 9 through Aug. 4 at Millennia Plaza, featuring nine performances spanning genres from rock and country to blues and reggae. All shows overlook the preserve’s 129-acre lake.
A special patriotic performance is planned for June 30, when Wayne Messmer will perform the National Anthem and “God Bless America” in honor of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.

Forest preserve officials said the long-running series continues to draw crowds each summer.
“For more than two decades, Concerts in the Plaza has been a summer tradition at Independence Grove,” Forest Preserves President Jessica Vealitzek said. “These evenings bring people together to enjoy live music in a relaxed outdoor setting.”
The entrance to Independence Grove is located off Route 137 in Libertyville.
