Deputies were called to the apartment at about 11:40 a.m. and found Lomax and a 47-year-old woman with gunshot wounds. They were both transported to Advocate Condell Medical Center where Lomax was pronounced dead in the emergency room.

The woman, who was dating Lomax, is expected to survive and is being treated for injuries that are not considered life-threatening, police said.

Harris was visiting his girlfriend, a 19-year-old woman who also lived in the apartment, when he got into an argument with Lomax shortly before the shooting. Both the younger woman and Lomax fled the scene and were later taken into custody. The woman has since been released from custody, Lake County Sheriff's Office chief Chrisopher Covelli told Patch.

Investigators recovered a firearm from Harris' vehicle after executing a search warrant, according to a news release.

During a detention hearing Wednesday, a Lake County judge ordered Harris remain in custody pending further court proceedings.
