When officers arrived, they found an unattended carry-on suitcase near the gas pumps. Out of an abundance of caution, police established a perimeter around the area and closed the intersection of Illinois Route 176 and Butterfield Road to traffic while the investigation was underway, police said.

Police requested assistance from additional agencies as they investigated the suitcase.

Authorities later determined the bag did not pose a danger, and the scene was cleared. Police said no additional information was available Monday afternoon.
